Every candidate asks the same thing: how many hours a day and for how many weeks? The right answer depends on your baseline, but three templates cover almost everyone. Start with the one that matches your available time.
The 2-week cram plan (advanced candidates)
Use this only if you finished your course within the last 30 days and score above 70% on a cold diagnostic mock.
- Days 1–2: 100-question diagnostic + review every wrong answer with rationale.
- Days 3–10: 75 questions/day rotating through airway, cardiology, medical, trauma, OB/peds, ops.
- Days 11–12: two full-length timed mock exams.
- Days 13–14: light review of weak topics + rest. Test on day 14 or 15.
The 4-week plan (most candidates)
- Week 1: 50 questions/day + one topic hub per day (airway, cardiology, etc.).
- Week 2: 75 questions/day + spaced-repetition flashcards on weak areas.
- Week 3: full-length mock mid-week, then targeted drills on missed topics.
- Week 4: second mock, taper to 30 minutes/day, sleep and hydrate.
The 8-week plan (rusty or working full-time)
- Weeks 1–2: rebuild fundamentals — one chapter or topic hub per day, 25 questions.
- Weeks 3–4: 50 questions/day, introduce timed 20-question sets.
- Weeks 5–6: full topic rotation, first mock at end of week 6.
- Weeks 7–8: two more mocks, remediate weak areas, taper before test day.
The universal rules
- Review every wrong answer with rationale — that's where learning happens.
- One rest day per week, no exceptions.
- Take at least one full-length timed mock before test day.
- Do not schedule your NREMT for the day after a night shift.
